Family and Culture

When I married into the Islamic culture in 2011 I began learning about the many cultural and religious juxtapositions which exist in the Middle East. When the revolution started in Tunsia in December 2010, I followed how they reported it in the news but also listened to how my husband and his friends explained the tensions in Islam and the regimes in place.

The shape of a chair represents a man kneeling down to pray, with BOUAZIZI integrated into the back of the chair. I wanted the chair to feel emotionally heavy yet poised for the future.
